Communicating Heritage

The branch explained how it came from a long line of noble trees. It told of its family’s high positions and broad influence. Many birds had visited its branches. It went on and on about the glories of its past.

The bird eyed the approaching storm and decided it would fly away. Besides, it didn’t speak Treeish and couldn’t understand a word the branch spoke.

I would like to read that the bird did understand Treeish and that after hearing the “impresssive” stories of the tree, she would fly away completely unimpressed…..

I don’t know a great deal of Treeish, but in English ‘to twig’ means to realise, understand or comprehend, and is similar to the Gaelic ‘tuig’ 😉
Lovely to connect, whatever the language…

Ditto! The Indo-european source of tree or wood is also the sourse of the words true and trust.

Thanks for that – the things the modern world could do with – and we’ve cut most of the forests down – no wonder we’re in such a state…
