The Iron Tree and The Birch
A birch tree grows in a stone wall.
Indoors and below it, on the same wall,
stands an iron tree.
The building itself, a church, was built
over 800 years ago.
The trees are trying to tell us something,
but I don’t speak this northern dialect
and have no idea what they’re saying.
