Let’s Get Snow Down and Get Clean

ViolaGong7_4845

Answer to yesterday’s quiz:
Yesterday’s picture shows a typical sounding gong from the inside of an old grandfather clock. A metal arm would strike the outer spiral edge and cause a deep vibrating sound to mark the hour in the number of gongs.
This ”grandfather” gong has been sitting on the wall outside of our kitchen for many years. Striking the spiral with a pencil or a fork signals anyone at home that food is on the table. My children have grown up with this gonging as a call to eat. I imagine that the sound has had a Pavlovian effect on them.

But what have we here in today’s picture? Two figures prostrate in the snow. What’s going on?
Answer tomorrow.
