Reflections in Marble
Where are the arrogant rulers who stood framed in marble?
Their reflection disappeared with a cloud.
Their green laws and red rules were swallowed by the wind.
Their luxury blended into dust and sand.
Their statues cannot be imagined among the grass.
Most of them have disappeared into the nothingness beyond memory. Some cling to a dark surface of a dusty book waiting to be devoured by a bug. A few hide in some digital holes. A handful are kept in trophy cases as examples of how destructive a human can be.
All of them could be discarded with a single flush.

Regarding: Reflections in Marble
In today’s posting you suggest that the pillar is made
of marble. My impression is that rather than being
marble, it is either granite or gneiss. In the lower
left corner there are typical reflections from mica
and there is also a high content of feldspar. As it
seems.
Probably the pillar is made out of granitic gneiss.
This material can be polished to a finish which is
more glossy than even the hardest marble.
Marble is typically a younger stone material:
limestone which has been under high pressure
in a rather recent metamorphic process.
This remark has no significance for the relevance
of today’s posting.
