Mild, Hard and Wild Beauty
– What would the world be like without humans?
– Green, wild and beautiful.
– Are you saying that the world would be better without humans?
– No! I’m saying it would be greener, wilder and more beautiful.
– You’re joking.
– You think a beautiful world is a joke?
– You know what I mean.
– No, I don’t. I haven’t a clue.
– I mean that it would be sad if there were no humans in the world.
– There were no humans in the world for 99,99% of the world’s existence. Was it a sad world?
– Whose side are you on?
– The world’s.
– Can’t there be a beautiful world with humans?
– I guess that’s possible. I’m all for it. But if humans can’t promote a beautiful world, I don’t see what they are good for.
– They can do other things.
– Like what?
– They can create works of art.
– For whom?
– What do you mean?
– Will the dawn appreciate their works of art? Will the wind stop a second to take a look? Will the rivers flow differently or the forest develop otherwise because of these works?
– You are very hard on humanity.
– Me? I’m nothing. The world on the other hand will put up with just so much.
– And then?
– Then it’s time for a greener, wilder and more beautiful world.
“A lot of people would look better if they lifted their attitudes
instead of their faces.”
