Promising Our Roots

YoungLakeBirch2a_1609

We promise our roots to struggle
under the conditions of light and the wind.
We trust our roots to hold and nourish us
as we strive to capture as much light as we can
to provide us all with energy.
We go in different directions, but we hold to our roots.
Some roots can hear other roots 1000s of miles away.
We have different interests, but we hold to our roots.
Some roots go 1000s of years into the earth.
We promise our roots to struggle
to create conditions for peace and laughter.
