Homo arrogantians
pride themselves on their intelligence
but aren’t smart enough
to live in peace,
work together,
love one another.
They use their power
to destroy, devour
and desecrate life.
Unwilling to recognize their humanity
they wrap themselves in a belief
a few thousand years old
and deny the demands of their biology,
the struggles of their heritage
and the gifts of light.
They obey the dictates of a nation,
cheer flags,
worship money,
neglect their community.
These smart and strong humans
don’t know enough
or have the strength
to sustain their existence.
These arrogantians are unaware
that life’s justice
cannot be bribed.
