Criminal Cats and Citizen Birds
Imagine the Soviet government, during the attack on Stalingrad, declaring an intent to make the German government play by the rules of international law.
You probably can’t imagine such foolishness. A farmer doesn’t ask the fox to respect the chickens.
Imagine asking the maffia boss to strengthen laws aimed at protecting people reporting crimes. Can’t do it, can you.
Yet a well-informed lawyer can say such things. Under the heading ”Make the government play by the rules of the constitution” John W. Whitehead tells us he ”recently united with a coalition of organizations in asking President Trump and congress to strengthen laws aimed at protecting whistleblowers”.
John is not unusual. On the contrary, appealing to the bad guys to act like good guys is what the intellectuals and progressives of the empire do. They say things, like Glen Ford, ”Obama and Trump Both Should Be Jailed for War Crimes.”
By who? Who is supposed to jail them?
These ”experts” never say that government officials who don’t follow the constitution, or who persecute truth-tellers, or who commit war crimes, are the enemy of the people. The enemy. You don’t appeal to the enemy. You oppose them, struggle against them.
In the land of freedom for government officials the experts hold up signs telling the fat cats not to harm the citizen birds.
And to donate money so that they can keep making the signs.
