Big Family Is Watching You

Big Brother is watching you.
So is big sister
and big mom and big dad
and big aunt, uncle, cousin
and all the big bigs.
But they don’t see you.
They can’t see you.
What is you can’t be seen.

But we can see them.
We can know them.
We can know them by their actions.
They are in charge.
They are responsible for what is happening.
They own almost everything.
They own fever in the air
contaminated blood
split communities
homelessness
destruction
poverty
despair
lies
war
and
greed
lots and lots and lots of greed
but not a drop of compassion
not a gram of grace
not a trace of satisfaction
despite the hard jewels
in their crown of accumulation
and they can’t see
what they can’t accumulate.
