Prayer Questions

Prayer4_6684
How many prayers are prayed a day?
How many get answered?
Are the odds of having a pray answered better or worse than winning a lottery?

What percentage of prayers ask to receive?
What percentage ask to give?
(Like in, ”Give me the strength to help.” or ”Show me the way to serve.”)

How many prayers are for other people?
How many prayers for health?
How many for things?
How many to win a lottery?

What does it cost to pray?
Is it true that you get what you pay for?

I’m just asking, but as the origin of the word pray meant to ask, I guess I’m just praying.

“Fear is here. It’s in the air.
The frightened stare, but see unclear,
pretend not to care, but are quite aware
it’s quite unfair to have but a prayer
for the many who share a simple square
while a privilegedaire gets a well-rounded share.”

What the Fuck?

Dulgic0_6574
What is it with all these people (intellectuals/academics) that can’t spell the word fuck? Whose delicate feelings are they protecting with their asterisks (*), dashes (-) and other non-alphabetical symbols?

Fuck is one of the most common words in the English language. It googles in at 275 000 000 hits. The spoken langauge has a far greater frequency. Whose rules are these f**k-distorters following?

Fuck has no literal meaning as an expletive. It merely injects an emotional hyper-charge into an expression. This self-censor begs the question, what else are they self-censoring? How far does their obedience to formal taste, to the niceties of the ruling order, extend?

Were they concerned with diluting ”bad” words, they should also write:
She was r*ped.
They t*rtured him.
The m*rderer showed no regred.
Etc.

This linguistic travesty is irritating; even to those of us who don’t use invectives.

Meet Linh Dinh

OldNettles5_4721
I recently made the (literary) acquaintance of Linh Dinh, the best writer of contemporary America that I know of. He complements his writing with pictures. No frills, no cosmetics, no bullshit. Here, he says, this is what it’s like, this is where it’s at. He’s a ray of light on withered nettles, nettles of blood with real needles. He punches hard, but his compassion is more powerful.

Go! Go meet Linh! He’ll put light on your world.

Last Blog of the Year

SnowCornLight_4892

“The future is near when the years change sides.
We hear her tell Beauty how Money has lied.
Her dress is torn; we see that she’s cried,
but this daughter of Truth simply takes it in stride.
She’s married to Justice and has nothing to hide
except her surprises and the route of her ride.”

The Damaged Lady

FutureLady0_5317

A damaged lady –
patches on her arm and cheek,
blemishes on her body
and markings on her leg.
With some because-you’re-worth-it cream on her cheek
and some semi-slave-sewn clothes
no one would notice
if only something could be done with her expression.

Behind a Face of Light

BlingWindowLady_0297

Lights in a window, a face in the darkness.
Star eyes, long nose, star mouth and star-studded hair.
A creative construction
– not a standard lights-in-the-window decoration –
by a generous soul
giving strangers an amusing vision.
She must be a godess
who created a woman in her own image.

Troubled Family

Birgly_0287
We see you when you go by,
hear your anxiety and hopes.
We breath your breath and you breath ours.
We are family and the family is troubled.
We’re counting on you.

The Flowers of Heaven’s Foundation

B-W_Statues_0285
The four flowers decorating the foundation of heaven represent love, beauty, justice and truth.
If we don’t support the foundation together, equally, we’ll both be crushed. So respect my curves and I’ll tolerant your squares.

Nelson and Jesus

Tutoni2_0247
They are processing Nelson Mandela to remove the essence of his struggle so that he can stand as an empty icon. Like with Jesus, they’ll not tire of shouting his name and producing tons of pictures and symbols while barely whispering a word of what he stood for.

Nelson considered poverty one of the worst evils in general and a particularly obscene one in the shadow of vulgar wealth from towers of inequality.
”Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life. While poverty persists, there is no true freedom.”

Although a victim of racism, he never viewed the crimes against black people as an exclusive injustice. It wasn’t merely the suffering of his race that should dominate the focus.
”All of us, black and white, should spare no effort in our struggle against all forms and manifestations of racism, wherever and whenever it rears its ugly head.”

His view of American imperialism (not the American people) will shock most citizens of the North Atlantic Empire, but not most of the people of the rest of the world.
”If there is a country that has committed unspeakable atrocities in the world, it is the United States of America. They don’t care.”

Unfortunately, it’s not just the masters of the empire who don’t care.
