Russian scientists have manipulated the genes of ferns (Chamaebatiaria millefolium) to produce gold atoms. The quality and extent of the gold is far too meager to justify commercial use, but the scientists are convinced that improvements in the process will eventually allow them to harvest gold.
The discovery occur by accident when combining chlorophyl proteins with the periostracum proteins that snails use to built their shells. Instead of blending, the magnesium from the chlorophyl added its electrons to triangular chisel-crystals in periostracum and produced a gold atom.
Researches throughout the world have reacted with skepticism. In light, or should we say shadow, of the international monetary turbulence, the Russian government supports the project with practically unlimited resources. Should the project succeed, the investment will weigh lightly.
The international community may express doubts, but after years of climbing, the trade volume and price of gold dropped after the announcement of the golden ferns.

Bradley committed the unforgivable crime of exposing USA’s criminality. He couldn’t help it. He is a short man with a tall conscience.
He has been subjected to the USA brand of soft torture for over two years with no end in sight. Soft torture employs isolation; lack of light or darkness; lack of sleep, silence, warmth or clothes; humiliation and any other form of discomfort without leaving any physical evidence of mistreatment.
Bradley has been and is being tormented in violation of all international rules and laws for treating prisoners. There is more than enough evidence of his tormentor’s bestiality. As yet, they have not broken this soldier. His courage and determination makes Rambo look like a wimp.
Bradley Manning has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. I suspect he won’t get it. For many of us, he already has.

Ask a non-African about Thomas Sankara and you will most likely meet a blank face. When you hear about him, you may believe you are hearing about the hero of a Hollywood film, titled perhaps Africa’s Top Son.
He was a miltary officer who played the guitar in a band and rode a motorcycle. Upon becoming president of Upper Volta in 1983 at the age of 33, he changed the French name to Burkina Faso (Land of Upright Men) – and wrote the new national song. All the government Mercedes were sold and replaced with the cheapest Renaults. No official was allowed to have a chauffeur or fly 1st class. Salaries of all government officials, including his own, were reduced. The president would get by on $450/month. He distributed land from wealthy landlords to peasants thereby doubling wheat production in three years and making the country self-sufficient in food. He abandoned air conditioning in his office and set a policy for government employees to wear traditional clothes grown, woven and sewn by local farmers and craftsmen.
Thomas did much more in the few years he sat at the controls of Burkina Faso. Most noteworthy, even by today’s standards, was his determined struggle for women’s equality. No woman could have done more. It was too much for men with powerful interests. After barely four years he was disposed and assassinated with French backing. The same French who are now dropping bombs on the neighboring country of Mali – to help the people.
Two quotes by Thomas Sankara
“We must understand how the struggle of the Burkinabè woman is part of a worldwide struggle of all women and, beyond that, part of the struggle for the full rehabilitation of our continent. Thus, women’s emancipation is at the heart of the question of humanity itself, here and everywhere. The question is thus universal in character.”
“Inequality can be done away with only by establishing a new society, where men and women will enjoy equal rights, resulting from an upheaval in the means of production and in all social relations. Thus, the status of women will improve only with the elimination of the system that exploits them.”
Some people stand out.
They go beyond,
exerting themselves to capture the light.
They defy their conditions
and their circumstances
to amplify the light.
Truth is the iron in their blood.
It glows with life.

shackled, behind bars, in isolation
shares his light
shattering darkness for us all.
Two quotes from Mumia Abu-Jamal’s book All Things Censored:
“At bottom, the media is a multibillion dollar industry that serves the interests of the owners, investors, and stockholders, as in every other industry. So-called public interest is, at best, purely incidental.”
“The powerful have an intrinsic interest in silencing the expressions of discontent by the powerless.”
Lynne Stewart is dying. When she visits the prison hospital her 73-year-old, cancer-ridden body wears five kilos of chains. Her crime? She defied authority. She defended the weak and the defenseless. Lynne, one of the many political prisoners of USA injustice, vibrates with defiance. Like an old hollow tree that sprouts new flowers, she doesn’t give up.
She is living proof that the powerful can house powerful evil in their diseased hearts.

The tree is on trial. It’s been accused of sticking up and defying the rule of obedient conformity. It’s placed itself in a high position even though only birds can live in it. Worst of all, it changes character and colors with every season. In the autumn it simply discards its leaves all over the well-arranged stones and asphalt.
The prosecutor demands the death penalty.
It’s rumored that the liberal judge will sentence the tree to death by chopping. He considers using a chainsaw vulgar.

– What do they call themselves?
– Homo sapiens.
– What does that mean?
– Wise people.
– Very funny! Now be serious, what does it mean?
– I am serious. It means the wise or thinking/smart person. That’s what they call themselves.
– Typical! Now don’t tell me, let me quess. They think that they can destroy the conditions to which they have evolved and survive. Am I right?
– You’re right. They never even consider extinction.
– I’m surprised they don’t call themselves the Ultra Super Smarties.

Life is very big and very complicated.
And changing all the time.
It contains few blacks and whites
but thousands of variations of gray.
Even the light in your head
shifts position and intensity.

I can’t stop laughing when I hear someone talking about democracy, which, in case you don’t know, means the will or the rule of the majority. It seems that the majority (90%-95%) wants to get poorer and have fewer social services so that the minority can get richer. Hahahaa! Hilarious.
The government is composed of rich, very rich and extremely rich people and their decisions take from the majority and give to the rich minority who get richer and richer. They do this as representatives of the majority, as the officials of democracy.
Haa haha hoohaa ho… stop! Stop, please. I’m going to split my sides laughing.
“We are free to praise the democratic robe on the naked ruler.”
