How to Save Humanity – 4 (last one)

Rolgic2m_7607I apologize for these “How to Save Humanity” posts.
Humanity can’t be saved.
Sorry for wasting your time.

I’ll continue posting in the same way the musicians of the Titanic kept playing…

A Boat in the Forest

Wuux1_7832

Give me humor.
Do me no harm.
Make me smile.
Turn up the charm.
And while you’re at it
some eternal youth.
Gimme, gimme, gimme,
but go light on the truth.

How to Save Humanity – 3

ScratchedRustPole2_8128
Environmental fever will not kill people. It is a symptom. People don’t die of fever, but of the disease causing the fever.

Instead of a struggle between life and death we could speak of our struggle as one between life and things, life represented by people and things by money. Money is a useful tool to regulate the exchange of things. When, however, money becomes more important than people, it is only a question of time before people are smothered under the weight of things.

We live in a money-oriented world. Even before the use of money, with few exceptions, the desires of wealth and power, rather than the needs of people, determined the course of events. Now, money supercharged by modern technology and with global reach has created an international financial monster capable of apocalyptic destruction.

The cancer of greed has diseased the body of humanity causing conflicts and dysfunction in all aspects of human endeavors. This cancer has developed and is nourished by a money-oriented system of society as predictably as lung-cancer develops in a heavy smoker

How to Save Humanity – 2

Rogg1_8005
We are engaged in a battle for survival. Survival. Life or death; everyone’s life—or death—, your children’s, your grandchildren’s and everyone else down to the last cell of human existence. This is no game. The struggle is in progress and you are part of it. You have no choice.

Every struggle has two conflicting sides. Our present struggle, our war for survival, is no exception even though it includes the entire world and all its species and resources from the heights of the atmosphere to the depths of the oceans. It is as complicated as it can be and it is therefore of decisive importance to understand the two main forces. What is the essence of the struggle? What are the conflicting sides?

Humanity faces no external enemies. Nature, despite the damages it can cause, forms the basis of our existence. We can affect and change the conditions of nature, but we will always be dependent on it. Humanity struggles with an internal conflict. Like a body fighting a disease, humanity must cure the cancer threatening to devour its body or perish.

How to Save Humanity – 1

Flayshir1_8009
Humanity scrambles toward extinction. Environmental fever grows ever warmer and the factors causing the fever increase as well. Scientists speak of non-linear growth meaning the rate of development increases; it’s getting warmer and warmer faster and faster. The fever will eventually lead to the death of many species. Many have already exited the stage of life.

Most people aware of the consequences of the earth’s fever contend that a portion of humanity will survive. Only hope supports such an assumption. It’s not a question of how many people will survive, but of how many species will survive. As with the mass extinctions of the past, smaller organisms might be able to adapt to a radical change. The larger ones, the major energy consumers such as humans, do not have a chance. We are the dinosaurs of this age.

That’s the sad news. A glimmer of hope can be seen in a crack of the gloom. Unlike the species-weeding dramas of the past, this one is caused by, and can therefore be averted by, humanity. Theoretically!

Polluted Sea of Humanity

DuckinPatternedWater5_7424

“The sea of humanity is polluted with Me
losing its salt to greed’s default.
Inequality contaminates the waters of We
making it easy to see
being alone is not being free.
It’s time to swim against the tide,
love and mercy our only guide.”

Spiritual Stupidity

Six (of seven) meditators at Stockholm’s Central Train Station. The sign taped to the railing above their heads reads: World Peace Meditation.

Six (of seven) meditators at Stockholm’s Central Train Station. The sign taped to the railing above their heads reads: World Peace Meditation.

Throughout the ages doing nothing while claiming to be working spiritually has been considered a virtue.

Look, we’re sitting on the floor, dressed unconventionally, in the middle of a pedestrian thoroughfare, thinking deep thoughts (on or for world peace). We threaten no one. You should think well of us.

By questioning a handful of people watching the meditators, I got the impression that these unfunny clowns can think what they want, where they want and how they want, but the people looking at them should think politically correct thoughts. We observers shouldn’t think that they are stupid even if it would be stupid to think otherwise. The guitar is probably smarter than all seven of these mental dwarfs combined.

Modern society tolerates holy nonsense. The more abstract the better. Think, that instead of these willfully blind meditators, a pleasant looking-couple stood holding a sign: Sweden out of Afghanistan!

Meditate on that!
