We’re all indoctrinated from birth with the conventional wisdom of the prevailing order.
America, for example, claims to have won a war of independence to establish freedom and democracy for all. The ”all” did not include woman, blacks or the natives of the country. About 35% of the people were gathered under the umbrella of democracy.
That was 240 years ago. Now, everyone is allowed to vote for someone from the 1% to boss over a congress of millionaires administering the decisions of the billionaires (the 6% of 1% of 1% of the 1%ers). This ”democratic” arrangement channels the wealth and power away from the great majority of the people into the hands of an itsy-bitsy teeny-tiny minority.
Democracy!
It should also be noted that in order to develop this ”democracy” from 35% to a core within the 1% tens of millions of people had to be killed and are still being killed all over the world.
Democracy!
Another perspective:

Show this marching band of North Korean woman to an American. Like Pavlov’s dog they will bark, ”Propaganda!”
Ask them why it is any more propaganda than a picture of American cheerleaders and they will undoubtedly spout all kinds of reasons based on what they’ve been told about North Korea by the people who regard North Korea as their worst enemy. Regardless of what North Korea is or isn’t, why would anyone judge it based on the opinions of their worst enemy? An enemy BTW who is strongly money-oriented and consequently in direct opposition to North Korea’s people-oriented (Juche) philosophy.
While each country claims that the other is dangerously aggressive, only one has military bases all over the world and has bombed and killed (and is bombing and killing) people in other countries.
It would take someone who has been indoctrinated since birth to believe only one side of an argument without hearing the other side. But we don’t need to hear the other side because we are living in a democracy, aren’t we?

Four quotes by four different people:
1. “It is consciousness that creates the material universe, not the other way around.”
2. “When you contemplate the universe, part of the universe becomes conscious of itself.”
3. “Stars may be thinking entities that deliberately control their paths … the entire cosmos may be self-aware.”
4. “In principle, some purely physical systems that are not biological or organic may also be conscious.”
You might guess that these quotes come from patients at a mental institution, but each one stems from an accredited PhD scientist. Robert Lanza, for example, quote 1, has been listed among the 100 Most Influentiel People in the World by TIME magazine, and voted the 3rd most important scientist alive by the NY Times. Lanza’s theory of the mind creating material goes under the name Biocentrism and has quite a few supporters among his peers.
Steve Stewart-Williams, quote 2, professor of psychology.
Gregory Matloff, quote 3, professor of physics.
Christof Koch, quote 4, President of the Allen Institute for Brain Science in Seattle.
Most people believe that education builds intelligence* and have difficulty defending their natural reasoning against the nonsense of academic experts. Jonathan Swift dealt with preposterous experts in the third part of Gulliver’s Travels (1726). In the land of Laputa learned gentlemen engaged in extracting sunbeams from cucumbers, softening marble for use in pillows, and discovering conspiracies by examining the excrement of suspects.
The highly educated nincompoops mentioned above along with many of their peers who deny reality by subordinating it to consciousness (or by attributing consciousness to inorganic realities) have a long pedigree going back to ancient Greece. All of them have one thing in common, ARROGANCE, an arrogance of cosmic proportions capable of challenging reality and the universe itself.
I mentioned before that someone might guess that the four quotes above come from patients at a mental institution. They do, but the academic culture of a decadent Empire is not referred to as a mental institution. It should be. It houses metrological scientists who deny global warming in the face of rising temperatures; agricultural experts who torture livestock and poison the soil; pharmaceutical experts who drug people to sickness and death; economical experts who claim taking money from the masses and giving it to a few wealthy will be good for the masses because some of the money will trickle back down; political experts who claim that a government of bribe-saturated millionaires channeling wealth to billionaires is democracy; military experts who bomb people to save them…
But let’s be honest! There are obvious advantages to denying the present reality.
*(Education builds knowledge, facts, which are mental tools. They no more determine the quality of thought than hammars, saws and boards determine the quality of a house. If facts were equated with intelligence or cleverness, a dictionary or a database would be smarter than people.)

Common Dreams is the name of a web and mail news organization. They claim to be progressive.
They are not.
They claim to be independent.
They are not.
They claim ”to bring the news that matters.”
They don’t.
They are a branch of the American Democratic Party with a mission to support and promote the “left-leaning” wing of that party. They are typical of almost all ”leading progressive voices of our time”, which they claim to represent.
Their ”Common Dream” (unstipulated) aims at returning to a time when the empire was kinder and more just. They are in other words reactionary, they don’t want to go forward (progress), but back (reaction). For all their progressive talk, they’re the alternative version of ”Make America Great Again” (without disturbing the money-oriented prevailing order or the foreign policy of dominance.)
Almost as often as they ”bring news that matter” they bring pleas of donations. At the heart of one of the latest of these ”beggar-mails” we can read that their ”leading progressive voices of our time /—/ speak truth to power. The voices that bring us new, progressive ideas that help take us one step closer to bringing our common dreams to life.”
Whenever you read ”speak truth to power”, you know a ”progressive” defender of the empire is on the soap box. Speak truth to power! Sounds great, says nothing. Well, not nothing exactly, it’s nonsense. It’s as logical as speaking truth to gravity or solar energy. Speaking truth to the people would be valuable, but let’s not get carried away.
They expose their impotence with the blatant lie that their progressive voices ”take us one step closer to bringing our common dreams to life.” Common Dreams has been amplifying these voices for 20 years. Are we closer now to our dreams than we were 20 years ago? No! We’ve been taking steps backwards. Common Dreams and the ”leading progressive voices of our time” talk progress but walk reaction. They are defenders of a dying empire. They represent Common Nightmares.

Should anyone survive
the massive destruction

but some of our citizen commodities)
they should be condemned

Mayor Khan of London may be short in stature, but he is a giant of hypocrisy.
In his short speech about the London Bridge attack he called the perpertrators ”sickening”, ”twisted”, ”barbaric”, ”evil”, ”unforgivable” and ”horrific” and referred to them three times as cowards. The attackers may qualify for all the adjectives applied by Uncle Khan, but cowards they are not. Cowards don’t rush into certain death by attacking people with knives in central London. A coward is someone who sits comfortably in luxurious surrounding while sending poor citizens to kill poor people in foreign countries. A coward talks indignantly about the death of a handful of citizen, while hiding 100s of 1000s of deaths in silence, and doesn’t dare mention the circumstances that drive young men to such desperation that they are willing to die and kill others to affect some retribution for the injustice, humiliations and bottomless losses they have suffered. A coward risks nothing, but talks bravely for the benefit of weapon dealers and conflict peddlers.
According to UN report 11 000 Afghani civilians were killed in 2015. Civilians! 30 a day for every day of the year. In Afghanistan. I don’t know the figures for Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Libya, Yemen and Somalia but we can be rather certain that 100s of innocent people have been and are being killed daily, and that the British rulers (and subservient Mayors) are and have been directly or indirectly involved. For nearly two decades. Not to mention their juicy weapon sales to Saudi Arabia. And their support for apartheid Israel.
Of course, Uncle Khan is but one of the well-paid administrative clowns spouting demagogic rhetoric for the rulers. The admirable thing about him is his ability to speak at all with lips against his superiors’ assholes.
