We can ask the same question of American political pundits. How can you tell the real ones from the phonies. This can be difficult, but in many cases the phonies are as obvious as rubber-tasting breasts. All we need to hear is one word and the full-of-shit buzzer goes off. The word is democracy. Any time an authority speaks of ”our” American democracy, the authority declares intellectual bankruptcy. The list of these democrazies is quite long.
Here, as an example, is Molly K. McKew in Politico Magazine (17-01-01):
”the West is already at war (with Russia), whether it wants to be or not. … This war seeks, at home and abroad, to erode our values, our democracy, and our institutional strength”
Molly K. sells herself as an advisor to governments and political parties yet she can’t tell democracy from oligarchy. The composition of the government composed of the 1% wealthiest individuals and the decisions of the government constantly favoring the 1% and corporate interests testify to lack of democracy. Kids in the streets know that America isn’t a democracy, but this fact has alluded advisor McKew.
”This war seeks … to erode our values”! Do you hear the echo of George Bush talking about how the terrorists attack us because they hate our freedoms? It’s amazing how the public tolerates being sullied with this garbage.
Molly’s article is another voice in the choir condemning Russia with all the passion and rage we should recognize from the weapons-of-mass-destruction opera sung to justify the invasion of Iraq. She presents not a single fact nor names any specific source but whines and insinuates the evils of Russia threatening ”our values and democracy”.
I wonder how Russia managed to get America to
— force 100s of thousands of workers to slave away at underpaid jobs?
— amass the largest prison population in the world?
— militarize the police and have them gun down unarmed people weekly?
— continue bombing and killing innocent people year after year in at least 6 countries?
— support the genocide of the Palestinian people while suppressing them with apartheid?
— constantly expand poverty and the number of homeless people?
— create the greatest inequality gap in the world?
— take money from the majority of hardworking citizens and give it to a few mega-rich criminal banksters?
— fill veterans with cocktails of mind-altering drugs so that 8000/year commit suicide?
— cause widespread sickness, suffering and death by driving millions of people to obesity with storms and tsunamis of sodas and junk food?
— contaminate at least 3000 communities with poisonous drinking water?
— frack the life out of large tracks of land and destroy rivers and lakes with oil spills and industrial wastes?
— lobbytomize the government into a herd of bribe-takers?
— spread tons and tons of radioactive particles into the environment with uranium-tipped (DU) bullets and missiles?
— cause the health/pharma industry to elevate medical treatment to the third cause of death after cancer and heart ailments?
— suppress the reports of over 2500 professional architects and engineers proving that the three World Trade Center skyscrapers must have been brought down by controlled demolition.
— believe that it is an exceptional (superior) nation?
— torture people and keep them illegally imprisoned?
— erode the national infrastructure?
— run up a national debt that threatens the economy of the world?
— create a culture so crippled and decadent that ignorant, lie-infested psychopaths can sing through manicured smiles about the democratic values of an empire run by a tiny group of billionaires.
If Russia can cause all of this and hack the outcome of elections as well, America may just as well surrender and save themselves a lot of pain.

Over 1000 posts ago, way back at the beginning of System Humanity, I dealt with my reluctance to curse in Confessions of a Fuckin Linguist. Lately, however, the word fuck appears all the more frequently in my posts. When a friend commented about that, I joked, ”These times seem to bring out the best in me.”
Besides the pure cursing value (releasing emotional pressure with a linguistic valve), the great American invective declares disrespect for prevailing niceties. It displays a disregard for political correctness and formal properness; a verbal extended long finger pointing upward in the face of ruling authorities and obedient intellectuals, and shouts, ”Up yours! Who gives a shit about your values.”
Childish? Perhaps. Meaningless? Certainly. Decadent? Wheeee…
I doubt if anyone took or takes a closer look at the picture illustrating the post. Who bothers with the details even though that’s where the message comes across. In this case a noble lion, a king of the beasts, with hair done in a style worn by British judges, seems to be resting his paw on ball. Closer examination shows that the lion’s claw is gripping a globe of the world (with a storm approaching in the background.) This statue sits on a low wall of the Royal Palace in Stockholm. The copper beast was put in place in the late 1700s when Britain ruled the world. Small countries, like the small countries of today, had to be careful expressing critical views of imperial power.
Some artists always find a way to curse power, if for no other reason than the joy of doing it. Those with limited talent may use simple vulgarisms. Others, with considerable talent and suitable resources, may choose to roar like a silent lion and dig claws into a symbolic world.

No one buys an inferior product that is more expensive than a superior model. Yet that is exactly what Israel does and just did again by purchasing 17 additional F-35 fighter planes at $100 million each. Why? I’ll deal with that after a glimpse at the fighter jet in question.
The F-35’s poor quality and high price is no secret, particularly among the people capable of buying $100 million machines that fly. In 2008 two analysts at the RAND corporation (John Stillion and Harold Perdue) reported that the F-35 ”can’t turn, can’t climb, can’t run”. In a hypothetical fight with a Chinese equivalent the plane was ”double-inferior”. We should visualize a table tennis match between Hillary Clinton and Xi Jinping. To compare it with the Russian stealth fighter we should think of a chess match between Bush and Putin.
In 2015, this war machine lost a mock battle against an older F-16 that was unfairly loaded with bulky weapons and extra fuel tanks compared to the unarmed F-35. The test pilot deemed the losing plane ”dead meat in an air battle”.
Delays and deficiencies have accompanied the development of this fighter craft since its conception; problems with the pilot’s helmet display, the flight controls, the automated logistical information system, and unreliable components everywhere. Many problems still exist, particularly its general performance.
The F-35 should be seen as a victim of the same lobbytomized corruption as the US health system, overpriced and under-efficient.
So why does Israel choose to put out $1,7 billion on these troublesome and inferior flying monsters? They have no choice. They’ve been offered a deal they can’t refuse from the commanders of the weapons corporations and their military henchmen. Hereafter referred to as MIC (Military-Industry Complex).
The public part of the deal played out on the political stage with the usual smoke and mirrors. Msm supplied the impression that Israel bought the planes in exchanged for receiving an extra $800 million per year. Not true! Pure disinformation.
The extra aid budget and the purchase of the planes are obvious facts hiding reality. Israel will receive less with the new deal (from 2019 to 2028) at $3,8 billion/year than with the present one at $3,0 billion/year. MIC, on the other hand, will do quite well.

Most aid to Israel (whether ”almost all” or ”the vast majority”) goes to MIC. Speaking in clear terms based on following the money, the American tax payers give their money to the weapon dealers/MIC who call it aid to Israel. I don’t know exactly what percentage amounts to ”almost all” or ”the vast majority”, but one thing is certain, MIC is going to get more and Israel less.
The new deal stipulates that the ability for Israel to convert 26.3% of the aid for use in Israel will be faded out. That adds up to about $800 million/year less for Israel and $1000 million more for MIC. We can start to understand the Zionists aversion and antagonism to Obama over the years. He represented the official agency brokering the deal, which, BTW, doesn’t stop there.
Another heavy loss for Israel will be its inability to use aid money to buy fuel from the US as it has done in the past. When an F-35 rolls into the gas station and says, ”Fill ’er up!” it will have to pay with its own money. Ditto for all the other planes and vehicles. A clause in the new agreement, that must cause more indignation and humiliation than financial stress, states that Israel must cough up $500 million a year of its own money to help fund joint missile defense programs.
I suspect that the USA’s recent abstention instead of vetoing the latest UN condemnation of Israel’s settlement policy showed the Zionists what could happen if they don’t shut up and do what they’re told. Perhaps. In any case, the new aid agreement signed in December stated unmistakably, ”MIC wants more. Hand it over!”
Of course many top dumbs will still claim that the Zionists control the US government. Even with an abused Israel whimpering in the corner these the-tail-wags-the-dog fundamentalists will cling to their convictions. We’ll hear them barking from many comment sections on the web.

Clearing the contaminated air
The enemy gets painted in rotten colors. Whether a divorce narrative or a war description, one side describes the other side in shades of monster. Truth peppers the accusations to spice the lies.
American power trembles in imperial decline causing the ruling forces to battle each other for control. We see the facade of this struggle, behind which rages cutthroat economic and political warfare. Bullets and bombs of lies fly everywhere. Foxes and wolves claim to be vegetarians while accusing each other of carnivorous criminality.
In general, the entire intellectual atmosphere is contaminated with lies. We are told it’s a question of the lefts against the rights, the Reps against the Dems, the reds and blues… Bullshit! Although the struggle among the rulers can be described in these terms, it doesn’t describe the exploitation of the people. The rulers endanger everyone, including themselves, as they ravage nature, inflame the atmosphere and deteriorate the conditions of life itself. A tiny minority exploits the great majority. That’s THE truth smothered under the lies pouring down from the pulpits of power. The people have nothing to gain by engaging in the struggle between their exploiters. Supporting one bad because the other bad is badder (sic) doesn’t add up to good no matter how you calculate.
Not only is the corporate-owned msm polluting the minds of everyone who consumes their products, the social media is heavily infiltrated and corrupted as well. This is often easily seen. Any site, blog or pundit attacking or condemning one of the conflicting power groups while promoting faith in the other one acts as a defender of the prevailing order of exploitation. They divert, disinform and lie about the status quo and the nature of the Empire.
Here’s a typical example:
”Western society is super-saturated with leftist propaganda” claims Zomblog (Dec 19) while propagating the virtues of Trump.
This is a variation of the claims of ”fake news” suggesting that the claimers themselves do no such thing. Believe that and I’ll tell you the R-rated story about how Santa Claus caused Rudolf’s nose to redden. (BTW, ”super-saturated” means wetter than completely wet.)
The book Dark Money by Jane Mayer presents a better, deeper and more comprehensive example of the money-generated power struggle behind the facade of public politics while exposing the source of rivers of lies. This must-read book however deals almost exclusively with the Republican (Koch brothers) brand of backstage intrigues. Despite the excellence of the book it cradles the reader in the illusion that the money-saturated political decadence stems from one side of the power struggle among the plutocrats. It doesn’t. Money talks—and screams—from both sides of the war among the power players. We, the people, don’t have to listen despite the volume.
Conclusion:
Any source taking sides in the power struggle of the powerful, whether because of ignorance, stupidity, indoctrination or complicity, champions the status quo and the continued exploitation of the vast majority by a tiny minority .

The USA is not a military dictatorship. All the military in the government have discarded their uniforms for civilian clothes and their military titles for government ones.
Further proof that the USA is not a military dictatorship is demonstrated by the president-elect using personal security guards instead of the standard CIA/FBI security apparatus. While this might not prove lack of military command, it definitely says that the president-elect of the USA does not trust government security.
The USA is an ordinary empire behaving in the manner of empires throughout the ages. Empires don’t have dictators, they have emperors. The term emperor however clangs like a cracked bell. Modern emperors have modern titles and rarely sit on a throne or even appear in the spotlight. They prefer the chair in a boardroom and care not what you call them as long as the decisions of their administration (the government consisting of 1%ers) are obeyed and the money flows into their treasure chests.
Follow the money! It always flows into the piggy banks of the richest rulers, no matter what they are called or what position they officially occupy.
